Humanscan (CEO Rhim Sung Min) has disclosed on the 5th that the company has signed a contract with Siemens Medical Solution for the development of ultrasound transducer. The contract is focused on the collaboration for research and development of a new ultrasound probe/transducer using PMN-PT single crystals. Unlike the existing PZT ceramic based product, the ultrasound transducer for medical treatment that uses PMN-PT single crystals is a highly advanced technological product but not yet mass produced due to difficulties in the manufacturing process. For the first time in the world, Humanscan has succeeded in the mass production of the product. In the coming fall, the 64 channel transducer for heart measurement will be introduced and it is showing more than 30% improvement in efficiency than the current PZT ceramic product. This contract with Siemens is being evaluated as the worldwide recognition for the Humanscan’s advanced technology. Humanscan has already been acknowledged for excellence in the developmental techniques for the PMN-PT single crystal transducer for the heart by Korea Agency for Technology and Standards which awarded Korean New Technology Certification (NT) and, last May, Humanscan acquired CE certification.
